The History of Father’s Day
Father’s Day originated in the United States in the early 20th century. The first official Father's Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington. It was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd, who wanted to honor her father, a Civil War veteran and single dad who raised six children on his own. Inspired by Mother’s Day, Sonora advocated for a day to recognize fathers’ contributions and sacrifices.
The idea gained popularity, and in 1972, President Richard Nixon officially declared Father’s Day a national holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
Why We Love Dads
Dads play an irreplaceable role in our lives. They are our mentors, protectors, and best friends. Here are a few reasons why we love and appreciate our dads:
Supportive Mentors: Dads provide guidance and support, helping us navigate life’s challenges.
Role Models: They teach us valuable life lessons and set examples of strength, integrity, and kindness.
Unconditional Love: Fathers show unwavering love and care, creating a strong foundation for our emotional well-being.
Fun and Laughter: Dads bring joy and laughter into our lives with their unique sense of humor and fun-loving nature.
Celebrating Single Dads
After all - it was a single dad who inspired Father's day in the States! Single dads deserve special recognition for their dedication and resilience. They often take on dual roles, balancing work, parenting, and household responsibilities. Their strength and commitment inspire us every day. Celebrate the single dads in your life with our exclusive Father’s Day gifts!
